Gordon Ryan and Nicky Rodriguez have been going back and forth in private about drug testing for ADCC 2024, and Ryan has now revealed the private messages on the topic. The two men have had significantly different views on the use of PEDs in BJJ in public, and they’ve debated the issue of testing in the past. Rodriguez was the one to suggest testing for Ryan originally, but Ryan refused to agree to USADA testing for a potential match with him. In fairness to Ryan, he has beaten Rodriguez twice before and doesn’t really have much to gain by getting another win over him.

Rodriguez has already undergone drug testing in the past and the results showed that he was ‘probably natural’ for at least one of his matches with Ryan. While passing that test was definitely a good sign to help demonstrate that Rodriguez might well be a natural athlete, a single test obviously isn’t foolproof. That’s part of why Gordon Ryan has been pushing Nicky Rodriguez to undertake more extensive drug testing ahead of ADCC 2024, where they may well end up meeting on the mats again. Apparently though, Rodriguez hasn’t been willing to agree to it unless he gets compensated financially for the time he’d have to spend.

Gordon Ryan shared the private messages between him and Nicky Rodriguez where they discussed drug testing for ADCC 2024 in a post to his official Instagram account. Ryan also got into a back-and-forth exchange with the official B-Team Jiu-Jitsu Instagram account in the comments too:

B-Team Jiu-Jitsu: “This guy talks about exposing frauds, he’d hate if the truth got out about him and the people around him 😂”

Gordon Ryan: “Reddit reality and real reality are much different Craig. Comment from your own account, coward.”

B-Team Jiu-Jitsu: “The truth always comes out buddy, you’re f*cked 😂 Pick a country that doesn’t extradite.”

Although Ryan clearly thought that it was Craig Jones commenting from his team’s Instagram account, Jones actually commented from his personal account with his usual sense of humor:

“Take a IQ test.”
