Georges St-Pierre recently sat down with Lex Fridman for an episode of his podcast and the conversation turned to street fighting at one point, where GSP gave his opinion on what the best martial art was for that scenario. This is one of the oldest questions that have surrounded martial arts conversations for decades now and considering this was a conversation between one of the most successful MMA fighters of all time and a legitimate BJJ black belt in Lex Fridman, it makes perfect sense that they’d drift into this area sooner or later.
This recent appearance on the Lex Fridman podcast was just one of several appearances that Georges St-Pierre has made recently as he’s gone on something of a media tour over the past few months. Not only has he gone on to the Joe Rogan Experience, but he also sat down with GQ to break down several martial arts scenes from various films. Alongside these videos, he’s also signed up to appear on the special ONE FC edition of The Apprentice alongside a few other martial arts experts like Renzo Gracie and Ben Askren.
The fact that GSP has been doing a lot of media work lately could mean something, or it could mean absolutely nothing in all honesty. It’s unusual that a retired fighter decides to do so many things in such a short space of time without any comeback fight lined up or new venture to promote, but it’s entirely possible that he just happens to have more free time right now. Below is the excerpt from episode 179 of the Lex Fridman podcast where he asks Georges St-Pierre what the best martial art for street fighting is, but the full episode can be seen here:
Very good Interview , George was very technical in his excellent tactical instruction, he still is one of the best.
