Grapplefest is one of the biggest professional grappling promotions in Europe, and they regularly manage to attract some of the best competitors from all around the continent. Jakob Brooks and Sam Barker met in a battle at under 70kgs back at Grapplefest 13 on October 1st, 2022 and there was a slick finish in this match between two talented purple belts. The event was put together with a pretty unique theme, as the top competitors from Pedigo Submission Fighting made the journey over to the UK in order to compete against some of the country’s best grapplers. The whole event was stacked from start to finish and there was non-stop action across the card, with multiple submission finishes and exciting battles.
In this particular match, Brooks was one of the Pedigo Submission Fighting Team representatives and Barker was one of the local competitors. Brooks took Barker’s back early in the match and spent the rest of it working non-stop to secure the choke, eventually wearing down Barker’s defenses and getting the finish. Barker is actually returning to the Grapplefest mats at Grapplefest 17, where he will be facing off against Kieran Fletcher. That match will take place on the preliminary card, while the main card will feature a number of top competitors and two exciting title-fights.
