This article and the accompanying footage of Danny Hughes vs Jack Tyley from Grapple Wars 2 is part of Free Fight Friday, our ongoing project to bring the best in professional Jiu-Jitsu competition to everyone. To avoid spoilers for the match, scroll directly to the footage below.
Danny Hughes and Jack Tyley are both talented grapplers training and competing in the United Kingdom, and they met on the mats with an under 76kg title on the line at Grapple Wars 2. The promotion is still relatively young, but they’ve already managed to stage some great events and we’ve actually featured the headline match from their debut event on Free Fight Friday before. Not only do they manage to put together matches featuring some of the best talent in the country, but they also provide an avenue for up-and-coming competitors to get more experience on the mats.
Jack Tyley represents 10th Planet London and has experience competing on Polaris, the biggest professional grappling promotion in Europe. Danny Hughes on the other hand is a great grappler who has competed for another major UK promotion, Grapplefest, multiple times in the past and represents Game Fight UK, an affiliate of Carlson Gracie Team. Grapple Wars couldn’t have picked two better men to compete for their inaugural 76kg title and it was a fantastic match with plenty of action from both men, although neither one could find the finish and it was Tyley who was declared the winner by decision. He is certainly a worthy champion and will now defend his belt against Sam Higgins at Grapple Wars 3 on October 14th, 2023.
