This is the second time that we’ve featured Arte Suave Elite as part of Free Fight Friday, and the promotion has staged hundreds of matches all across the West Coast of the USA so there’s plenty to pick from. Just like the promotion’s first appearance, this edition of Free Fight Friday also features Moreno as well. There are a few differences between the two matches though, most notably the fact that this match between Chris Richey and Manny Moreno was actually contested in the gi. Moreno is an Ares BJJ black belt and the head instructor at their Roseville location, while Richey is the owner and head coach of National City Jiu-Jitsu.
The two men met at 160lbs and they both came prepared for a lengthy battle, although in the end the match was over in around 30 seconds. Richey pulled guard early and managed to hit a pretty quick sweep in order to take top position, but Moreno pummeled his legs inside to butterfly guard and immediately got to work. He elevated Richey and executed a picture-perfect saddle entry before transitioning to the kneebar that ended the fight soon after. It was a slick sequence that secured Moreno the victory and it served as another nice reminder of why it’s worth paying attention to his matches when he does compete at Arte Suave Elite.
