The two heaviest divisions at ADCC 2024 are now full, as the final three competitors have been invited to the event. Both the under and over 99kg brackets now have all sixteen places filled in, and they are both stacked with fantastic talent. All three of these last invites have gone out to very talented grapplers though, and each of them will be very tough to beat. There’s a good mixture of experience levels too, as one man is an ADCC veteran who has already stood on the podium in the past and the other two are newcomers who will be making their promotional debut.
Vinicius ‘Trator’ Ferreira is the veteran who will be returning, and he will be entering the under 99kg division for the third consecutive time. He made it all the way to the final on his first attempt in 2019, leaving with a silver medal and his only loss coming against Gordon Ryan. After that fantastic performance he was invited to return at ADCC 2022 and he made it to the second round that time, but that was enough to earn him another shot this year. Although the competition is fiercer than ever before, Ferreira will still be one to watch in the under 99kg division.
The final entrant invited to join the other competitors in the under 99kg division at ADCC 2024 is Daishi Goto, and he will be making his debut this year. Goto has been a fierce competitor for quite some time now and earlier this year he managed to make it all the way to the semi-final of ADCC Trials. He finished in fourth place in the end but he’s got an exciting style that clearly caught the attention of Mo Jassim and the other people behind ADCC. Goto has now been given the chance to make his ADCC debut and no doubt he’ll be eager to get some big wins when he steps on the mats.
Brandon Reed is the final man to enter the over 99kg division, and he also earned his invite through an impressive performance at ADCC Trials. Reed was able to use his superb wrestling skills to finish with a bronze medal at the ADCC West Coast Trials earlier this year, and he definitely drew attention in the process. Now he will round out the heaviest division at the tournament and there will be plenty of opportunities for revenge for him too, as the both the gold and silver medalist from that bracket will also be competing.
ADCC announced the final three heavier competitors who completed the under and over 99kg divisions in a series of posts to their official Instagram account:
