Fight 2 Win 181 was just as exciting as the lineup suggested, with the headline match between Gabriel Sousa and Lucas Pinheiro being full of action. Sousa pulled guard and scored a sweep early but wasn’t able to stabilize and ended up conceding top position not long after. Another sweep soon followed but this time Pinheiro immediately started attacking a leg from 50/50, Sousa disengaged and the opening allowed Pinheiro to escape to his feet. Pinheiro shot in for a takedown and nearly drove Sousa clean off the stage if not for the referee’s intervention.
Sousa pulled guard once they were reset in the center but didn’t stay there long before the pair returned to standing. After another guard-pull, Pinheiro managed to put more of his passing game to work and spent a fair amount of time pouring the pressure onto Sousa. With under two minutes left, Sousa managed to get underneath Pinheiro and open up the opportunity to attack the leg. Pinheiro worked his way on top and rolled free but Sousa reacted and transitioned to a straight ankle-lock that he wasn’t able to finish. Pinheiro pulled guard with just a few seconds left in the match and got slammed for his troubles, but the match was over and Sousa was already ensured the victory by decision.
