Fight 2 Win 178 saw the travelling circus hit Pheonix, Arizona and the most prolific grappling promotion in North America didn’t disappoint. The headline match of the event saw Victor Hugo put his 220lbs+ title on the line against Guilherme Augusto and the match saw Hugo take the bottom position for the majority of it, working his spider guard game. From there, Hugo managed to elevate his opponent and start attacking both the kneebar and the straight ankle-lock which ended up earning him the decision victory after neither man was able to get the finish within the regulation time-period.
The co-main event was just as exciting as one of the original legends of Jiu-Jitsu, Xande Ribeiro, made a rare competitive appearance against Fellipe Trovo. Ribeiro is well-known for having one of the most unpassable guards in the entire history of the sport and he put those skills to great use on the F2W mats. Not only did he keep up his incredible record of not having his guard passed, but he managed to earn a decision victory over a much younger competitor, confirming that he hasn’t lost a step despite turning forty years-old at the start of this year.
