The Team Misfits Europe trials for the Craig Jones Invitational 2025 (CJI 2) took place on May 24th, 2025 and three elite grappler secured their place on the team. The event consisted of three four-man tournaments across the under 77kg, under 88kg, and over 99kg to determine the representatives at those weight classes. The winners joined Owen Jones and Charles Negromonte to complete the team, with them competing at under 66kg and under 99kg respectively. Things are heating up all around the world now that the lineups for all of the CJI teams are being announced, so the competition was incredibly fierce here in every division.
The under 77kg division saw Pawel Jaworski earn his place on the team by beating two of the most underrated UK grapplers around right now, as he won a pair of decisions over both Ellis Younger and Tom Barry. Another Polish powerhouse impressed in the over 99kg division, despite coming in with a bit of a size disadvantage. Marcin Maciulewicz was the winner there, beating Thomas Bracher by decision and earning the only submission of the night over Heikki Jussila in the final. There was a last-minute change in rules in the under 88kg division though, as the final between Taylor Pearman and Paul Ardila was so close that they went to an ADCC overtime round where Ardila scored the winning takedown.
