Fight 2 Win 156 saw a fantastic champion v champion match headline the event as Kennedy Maciel and Edwin “Junny” Ocasio battled it out for the promotion’s Featherweight no gi title. The matches leading into this fight were equally exciting as both Jackson and Samuel Nagai were competing against Hugo Marques and Marcio Andre respectively. Jackson set the family off to a good start by making short work of Marques and forcing him to tap to a Collar Choke shortly before Samuel and his opponent took to the stage for the Co-Main event.
Samuel Nagai and Marcio Andre both pulled guard at the beginning of their match with Nagai working for a Toehold almost immediately. He wasn’t able to secure it and both men tried to work for straight ankle locks that they abandoned when the odds of finishing looked slim. Andre came up on top and although he worked to pass guard briefly, he ended up sitting back for another straight ankle lock. Nagai defended well before starting to set up a Triangle Choke, but wasn’t able to lock the choke up. He then switched to working his Spider guard game and comfortably defended another of Andre’s straight ankle lock attempts before catching a Toehold in a scramble. Andre tried to counter with a submission attempt of his own and the clock came to an end with neither athlete able to finish, with the decision going to Nagai as he moved to 7-0 for Fight 2 Win.
In the main event, Ocasio pulled guard within seconds and quickly started working to open up Maciel’s legs. Maciel stayed standing and freed his leg before passing smoothly to side control, although Ocasio recovered guard quickly. Maciel then looked like he was going to work a straight ankle lock before using it to try and pass Ocasio’s guard again. Maciel went low and worked his way into a double-under pass, exposing Ocasio’s back before switching to an armbar attempt. Ocasio stacked Maciel in order to defend the submission but he was fighting a losing battle as Maciel held on tightly. Maciel extended the arm and followed through with his hips to get the tap, and the title.
