Ffion Davies has suffered a shoulder injury that has forced her to withdraw from her main event match against Adele Fornarino at UFC Fight Pass Invitational 10 on March 6th, 2025. It’s going to be devastating news for everyone involved, as this was one of the biggest possible matchups in the sport. Davies has cemented her place right at the top of the division for quite some time now and she was the last under 60kg ADCC world champion back at ADCC 2022. She actually submitted Fornarino in the opening round back then, but that has been their only match and a lot has changed since then.
Fornarino had the best performance of her career just last year at ADCC 2024, winning the under 55kg division and the first women’s absolute division in 17 years. Becoming a double champion at ADCC is an incredible feat that only a handful of competitors have achieved, but it was even more special than usual for her. Fornarino made history as the very first Australian world champion when she won her weight class and then doubled her tally of records by becoming the lightest absolute champion of all time. With the incredible trajectory that both women have been on over the last few years, there really isn’t a bigger matchup in women’s BJJ right now.
Although Davies can’t be happy about pulling out from the match, it’s a double-blow for Fornarino as she hasn’t got a replacement opponent either. With the main event now completely removed from the card, the match between Nicky Rodriguez and Victor Hugo has been elevated to main event status. With a space opening up for a new co-main event as a result, Renato Canuto and Oliver Taza have now been promoted to that slot. There has been no news about any other matches being added to the lineup either, so it appears as though the event will go ahead with one less than originally planned.
