Eoghan O’Flanagan just put on a flawless display of elite Jiu-Jitsu at the ADCC Middle East Open 2024, where he managed to win gold medals in both the under 83kg weight class and the absolute division. Not only did he win a total of 7 matches across the two brackets but he also managed to submit every single opponent he faced on the day. It was an impressive performance but not exactly unexpected considering the fact that O’Flanagan is one of the best grapplers in the world in his weight class. There was plenty of tough opponents in both divisions, but still none of them were a match for an ADCC veteran like O’Flanagan.

He started to prove that he belonged at the top of his division all the way back in 2021 when he stormed to victory at the ADCC European, Middle-Eastern, and African Trials. Although ADCC Trials is an incredibly difficult event to win, he actually submitted every single one of his opponents then as well. Winners of Trials events are often overlooked during the build up to ADCC but O’Flanagan was just as impressive there, as he finished in fourth place in the under 88kg division. He will almost certainly be invited to ADCC 2024 as a result, so extra competition practice under the ADCC ruleset will be a big help right now.

Although it’s a long way from England, O’Flanagan didn’t travel to the ADCC Middle East Open 2024 on his own either. He actually went with one of his teammates and Charles Allan Price, the co-host of his popular podcast, both of whom also competed at the event. They also managed to walk away with gold medals after competing in intermediate divisions, so it was a very successful day for the whole group.

Eoghan O’Flanagan announced the news that he had won double gold at the ADCC Middle East Open 2024 in a recent post to his official Instagram account:
