Dillon Danis has apparently been asking Bellator to book his return to professional MMA competition, and he’s eager to get back in action. While Danis has been inactive in combat sports for quite some time now, it does seem as though he’s angling to get back to it at some point soon. Alongside a potential return to MMA, he also revealed that he was aiming to return to professional grappling with Polaris at some point in 2023 too. He recently ran into The Schmo at UFC 288 and discussed how hard he’s been trying to get back in the cage:
“I’ve been begging for a fight with Bellator, and, you know, they’ve been kind of… I don’t know, they’ve been playing me, so I’m about to do my own thing… I’ve been begging for a fight for months. I’m ready to go. I’ve been ready to go, I could fight tomorrow.”
The revelation comes just a couple of months after Bellator CEO Scott Coker claimed that they offered Danis a fight at the beginning of the year but he turned it down in favour of a boxing match with KSI. While that was supposed to be Danis’ return to combat sports, it all fell apart at the very last minute. Danis pulled out of the boxing match with KSI on short notice and there’s been no news on whether it will be booked again. According to Danis though, that news might be coming sooner than fans had thought:
”I can’t talk about that yet because I’m working with them right now, but one day I’m going to tell the truth… I haven’t told the truth about… I haven’t said anything yet. Okay, I’m going to tell the whole story, but right now know we’re working on a deal so I don’t wanna get involved with that right now.”
