Craig Jones has recently started to share his side of the Danaher Death Squad (DDS) breakup, and he’s already made some shocking statements. Jones hasn’t gone into full detail about the reasons behind leaving the team just yet, but he did share a short video to his Instagram account to give a quick breakdown. The breakup of DDS was one of the biggest storylines in the sport when it first happened a few years ago and the ripples of that split are still being felt today. In fact, Jones’ own recent comments were made as a direct response to Gordon Ryan giving his side of the story in a recent podcast appearance:
“Guys, Jake Shields’ podcast with Gordon22 is f**king rock solid. Obviously, nothing but the truth. We left the gym. B-Team formed really because John (Danaher) was just training us too hard. Not because he was slapping the s**t out of people, not because of the abuse Gordon (Ryan) was doing to people along with his partner. All those things, straight over their heads.”
While Ryan gave his own thoughts on why DDS broke up and B-Team Jiu-Jitsu was created, Craig Jones tells a very different story. These two aren’t the first to discuss the breakup though, in fact Jones’ current teammate Nicky Rodriguez has been open up about his reasons for leaving the original team. Rodriguez has shared a pretty similar take to Jones, although that isn’t too surprising considering the fact that they stuck together during the breakup. Danaher himself has talked about the split too, albeit pretty briefly, and he was far more diplomatic about it than any of the competitors have been.
Jones also took issue with Shields himself for not sharing some of the information he allegedly already knew about the situation too:
“Me and Jake Shields had a f**king long conversation about this when the team broke up and he came to train at B-Team. No, I’m not gonna do Jake Shields’ f**king podcast if he can’t even remember that. I’ll probably explain these things on my own podcast.”
Craig Jones dropped the revelations about his reasons for leaving the Danaher Death Squad (DDS) in a recent story posted to his official Instagram account, which has since been shared to Twitter:
