CHAANCE Spyder BJJ Road To Black took place on February 12th, 2023 and the Korean promotion delivered a night full of fantastic results from start to finish. The production value alone was really impressive, but the promotion also put together two stacked brackets featuring some of the world’s top talent at both 65kg and 75kg. There weren’t many submission finishes on the night, with only three out of fifteen matches ending early, but plenty of action nonetheless. The most impressive performance undoubtedly came from Andy Murasaki, who stormed to victory in the 75kg division. He hit one of the submission finishes in the opening round, won a tough match against Marcio Andre, and racked up a whopping nineteen points in the final match without being scored on once.
Meyram Maquine was the winner in the 65kg division, beating three elite grapplers in Samuel Nagai, Shane Hill-Taylor, and Fabricio Andrey to take the title. The most exciting match of the night came in the opening round of the 75kg division when Jhonathan Pessanha and Inseong Jang went back and forth consistently scoring on one another before Pessanha won the referee decision. The promotion also booked Demian Maia to compete against Sangwook Kim in a superfight and Maia put on an absolutely flawless performance, racking up 16 points in just a few minutes before finishing Kim with a tight arm-triangle choke.
