Cage Fury BJJ 14 took place on July 25th, 2025 and it marked the first event since the promotion decided to rebrand from Fury Pro Grappling. It was a great night of Jiu-Jitsu and their golden score overtime rules produced plenty of thrilling moments, as always. The first finish on UFC Fight Pass came in the only women’s match, as Cathryn Discianni set up a tight arm-triangle choke and transitioned straight into the Ruotolotine for the finish when Taylor Clarke turned to defend. ADCC veteran Daishi Goto got the second finish of the night in the very next match; countering Jarbem Pacheco’s takedown with an arm-in guillotine that earned him the win.
There was a little bit of controversy in one of the next matches between Sergio Vilas and Andrew Kochel, because Vilas got the win by golden score when he took Kochel’s back but Kochel could be seen protesting that he didn’t have his hooks in. The next match was also won in overtime, as Elder Cruz managed to score first against Steve Joachim. After that it was time for the co-main event and the first title-fight of the night, where the reigning bantamweight champion Edwin ‘Junny’ Ocasio was putting his belt on the line after winning it in their last event.
Ocasio was defending his title against Joey Diehl, who actually submitted him in their last match at the ADCC Dallas Open in 2023. Ocasio got revenge with a leglock of his own, submitting Diehl in the rematch and leaving as the champion again. The main event required some last-minute changes compared to the original lineup, as elite wrestler Pat Downey withdrew due to injury. UFC veteran Phil Hawes stepped up to replace him but Luke Fernandez proved be too much for him, as he locked up an Anaconda Choke for the finish. Fernandez became the inaugural cruiserweight champion as a result, and likely has a meeting with Downey coming up soon.
