BJJ Stars 15 took place on April 26th, 2025 and it was a star-studded event that delivered plenty of great results even though it was low on submission finishes. The main event was the promotion’s first ever no gi grand prix, but there was also a handful of superfights in between rounds. Two of these superfights stood out in particular, as both of the BJJ Stars absolute titles were being defended, Adam Wardzinski was challenging Erich Munis for the men’s title and Tayane Porfirio was challenging Gabrieli Pessanha for the women’s title. Between the action-packed grand prix and battles between the top pound-for-pound gi grapplers in the world, this was an event that couldn’t be missed.
Meyram Maquine put on an absolute clinic of quick passing in one of the earlier superfights, as he passed Diogo Reis’ guard three times along the way to an 11-0 win on points. Then the first title-fight was another display of quick attacks but in a different way, as Gabrieli Pessanha chained together multiple submission attempts on Tayane Porfirio before eventually taking her back and securing the collar choke for the win. The men’s absolute title didn’t change hands either, as Erich Munis beat Adam Wardzinski 8-2 win on points with the highlight being a beautiful overhead sweep that took him straight into mount.
On one side middleweight no gi grand prix bracket, Mica Galvao first used his elite guard-passing to score points and successfully neutralise the threat of leglocks from Jon ‘Thor’ Blank. His semi-final match with Elijah Dorsey played out primarily on the feet but Galvao did manage to get off a few submission attempts from the bottom that appeared to win him the referee decision. Roberto Jimenez and Izaak Michell put on one of the best matches of the night elsewhere, as they traded multiple takedowns and wild scrambles before Jimenez was given the judge’s decision based on his non-stop aggression.
Jimenez’s second match against Oliver Taza was just as tough, and he had to fend off several leg attacks throughout it. He almost secured a pass early on but in the end it was a back-take right at the end of the match that scored him the points he needed to win. Jimenez then met Galvao in the final and although he landed a takedown early on, he had to escape an armlock immediately after. He resumed passing but it was another armlock attempt from Galvao that set up the finishing sequence, as Jimenez scrambled to free himself and Galvao chained together multiple different armbar variations before eventually forcing the tap.
