BJJ Stars 10: Battlefield took place on April 22nd, 2023 and the promotion put together an incredible absolute grand prix tournament that delivered some fantastic results for the fans. Not only that but there were also three superfights at the event, one of which featured famous Brazilian rapper Ice Blue. He ended up losing on points to Alexandre Godoy, while the other two superfights were won by Joao Rocha and Ingridd Alves. The main attraction was the tournament though of course, where around 200,000 Brazilian Real was on the line for whoever could make it to the top of an incredible star-studded lineup.
There was an interesting matchup in the opening round as the tournament’s lightest competitor, Mica Galvao, came up against the heaviest, Otavio Nalati. Galvao dominated him and won on points in order to make it to to the quarter-finals, but that’s when disaster struck. He was up against Kaynan Duarte and ate a pretty strong reap which appeared to cause him an injury, although Duarte was disqualified as a result. That undoubtedly contributed to his defeat in the semi-finals, as Fellipe Andrew was able to score points again him and win at the end of the match.
On the other side of the bracket, Erich Munis had put in three good performances in order to book his place in the final opposite Andrew. His semi-final match against Victor Hugo was one of the closest matches of the entire night, and he won by just a single advantage to earn the right to stand across Andrew. The final match between Andrew and Munis delivered plenty of action for the fans and there was very little to separate the two men, but in the end it was Munis who managed to score more advantages and win the absolute grand prix.
