B-Team Jiu-Jitsu have just announced a team to compete in the upcoming Quintet 4 event on September 10th, 2023, fielding one of the most stacked lineupsto ever set foot on the Quintet mats. It was already set to be a fantastic event as the other three teams representing 10th Planet, Polaris, and Team Sakuraba are filled with elite grapplers. B-Team weren’t originally supposed to be competing at the event, as they’ve actually stepped in to replace a team that pulled out shortly after the event was announced.

The fourth team in the tournament was originally supposed to be a New Wave Jiu-Jitsu team led by ADCC world champion Giancarlo Bodoni. Although fans were originally excited to see those four teams battle it out, the founder of Quintet and the leader of one of the other teams, Kazushi Sakuraba, recently made a press-release that broke the news to the fans. Apparently one of the members of the New Wave team was unable to compete at the event and the whole team actually decided to withdraw as a result.

While Quintet is an incredibly popular event in it’s own right, there’s even more attention around this edition thanks to the fact that it’s the first event they’ve held in over two years. Naturally this meant that were dozens of teams all around the world that would have happily stepped in to replace New Wave Jiu-Jitsu at Quintet 4, but not many of them could have fielded a team as strong as B-Team have. Three out of the four founding members of B-Team have joined the lineup, along with another ADCC veteran and one of their most promising young prospects.
