Andy Murasaki is one of the hottest prospects in BJJ and he’s just been awarded his black belt by Andre Galvao at the ATOS headquarters. Murasaki was one of the most highly-decorated brown belts in the sport and most recently won both his weight and the absolute division at this year’s IBJJF Pan-Am Championships, something that was made all the more impressive by the fact that he actually competed at Lightweight at the event. Not just that, but out of his seven straight wins at the event, six of them ended in submission and he defeated Mason Fowler in the final of the absolute division.
Murasaki also made a big impression this year when he was part of the team representing ATOS at Subversiv 4, where he and his teammates, Lucas “Hulk” Barbosa, and Rafaela Guedes, would go on to win the entire tournament in dominating fashion. He was a key factor in this victory as he won three out of four of his matches at the event, with his only loss coming against Nick Ronan as the result of a close decision.
Andre Galvao announced Andy Murasaki getting his promotion on his official Instagram account, where he congratulated the new black belt on his journey in the sport so far.
