ONE X marked the promotions tenth birthday in fantastic fashion as it saw many titles get put on the line across several different disciplines, and the beginning of their submission grappling division with the debuts of both Andre Galvao and Danielle Kelly. The main event saw Angela Lee retain her Atomweight MMA title by submitting Stamp Fairtex in the second round, while MMA legend Demetrious Johnson managed to finish Rodtang Jitmuangnon in the same fashion in their mixed-rules fight. The most impressive part came before that though, as Johnson managed to take it to Fairtex in the striking round and look fantastic in what should have been his opponent’s strongest moment.
The two submission grappling matches at ONE X featuring Andre Galvao and Danielle Kelly didn’t go down quite as planned for either competitor though. Kelly looked in control throughout her match but Mei Yamaguchi proved to be a much more game opponent than fans might have first though and she managed to last until the end of the round, forcing the match to end in a draw. In Galvao’s match, Reinier de Ridder actually looked fantastic and even had moments of success against what should have been the superior grappler. That match also lasted the full time though and a draw was declared as a result.
