IShowSpeed is one of the most popular streamers in the world and he recently decided to take part in a grappling training session with UFC veteran Vanessa Demopoulos. It’s an unusual crossover but it’s far from the first time that those two worlds have collided, as several streamers have decided to find out what it feels like to roll with a professional. Adin Ross got submitted by Islam Makhachev earlier this year and several other members of that community have done the same with other fighters in the past. This particular meeting happened because IShowSpeed is currently embarking on a 35-day constant livestream around the United States.
Unsurprisingly, it always goes exactly the same way with these crossovers and the fighter has an incredibly easy time submitting the celebrity. This time was no different either, as Demopoulos submitted IShowSpeed three times during a very short sparring round. She did it from all angles as well, starting out with a gogoplata from the bottom that she swept him before finishing it. The second time wasn’t even an actual submission attempt, Vanessa Demopoulos just piled on the shoulder pressure from side control and IShowSpeed tapped. Then finally, Demopoulos pulled guard and swept him quickly before finishing an americana from mount.
Although IShowSpeed seemed shocked by much he was out of his depth, it’s not exactly surprising that a professional fighter would manhandle an untrained opponent like that. Especially when they have the same level of Jiu-Jitsu that Demopoulos has shown in the past. Not only does any UFC fighter have to have a solid level of grappling to succeed at that level, but Demopoulos has even registered a few submission wins in her MMA career. She has even tested herself against full-time grapplers in the past too, and made it to the second round of the strawweight tournament at Medusa 1.
Vanessa Demopoulos shared the footage of her grappling training session with IShowSpeed in a recent post to her official Instagram account:
