Jason Nolf is a veteran wrestler with three NCAA championships and two big ten championships under his belt before he won the pan-ams in 2020, but now he’s starting to drift ever so slowly into the BJJ world and has even been seen training with Craig Jones. Nolf visited the brand new B-Team Jiu-Jitsu academy to teach a wrestling seminar for the horde of students who’ve decided to make the move to Austin, Texas to train with Craig Jones, Nicky Rodriguez and the rest of the gang. Alongside the seminar, Nolf decided to take some time out of his busy schedule to train with Jones and Rodriguez in one of only a handful of BJJ sessions he’s ever had.
Nolf isn’t entirely new to the sport of course as he’s spent quite some time wrestling with Isaac Greeley at the Mat Factory in Pittsburgh, a Jiu-Jitsu coach in his own right. Over the Christmas period in 2020 Nolf was seen training there in the gi with fellow NCAA champion Bo Nickal, opening up the potential for him to transition to Jiu-Jitsu competition. Alternatively, he might even be deciding to follow the same path that Nickal has taken and may be making the switch to MMA in the future, although he hasn’t mentioned this just yet.
If Nolf does decide to transition to BJJ full-time then he really couldn’t have picked a better time to do so with the ADCC world championships right around the corner and the organization always invites 8 elite athletes per weightclass to compete. Even if Nolf doesn’t get an invite, it seems likely that at least one elite wrestler will be getting some good news from Mo Jassim as Pat Downey has been tearing up the regional BJJ scene with his fantastic skills and would probably love the chance to get another victory over Nicky Rodriguez after defeating him in a wrestling match.
