Dillon Danis recently had a striking session with the bare-knuckle boxing king Mike Perry, right as he puts the finishing touches on the training camp for his MMA return. Although Danis is now known more for his social media antics than his combat sports career, he was at one point in time a legitimately successful competitor. Danis is a BJJ black belt under the legendary Marcelo Garcia and had a decent showing at ADCC 2017, before leaving Jiu-Jitsu to pursue MMA. He signed with Bellator and won two fights by submission in the first round, but he left MMA abruptly in 2019.
Danis has been largely inactive in the 6 years since then, with his only appearance being a disqualification loss in his boxing match with Logan Paul. That was back in 2023 and Danis barely threw any strikes at all during that fight, but it seems as though he’s actually been trying to be more active recently. He was supposed to start the year off with another boxing match, but that fell apart when his opponent KSI withdrew at the last minute. That seemed to signal a hiatus from boxing for Danis, as he has since decided to focus on returning to MMA instead.
His first attempt at a comeback was scuppered when the entire GFL event was cancelled and his fight with Tony Ferguson was taken with it. That hasn’t seemed to deter Danis though, and he’s been able to book a completely different fight for his comeback instead. Now he faces social media star Warren Spencer in the first ever Misfits MMA fight, with the promotion’s inaugural light-heavyweight title. With just over a week to go before the fight takes place, Danis’ preparation is almost complete. He’s still found time to squeeze in some rounds with Perry though, a far more experienced striker who could definitely help him develop those skills.
Mike Perry shared the footage of him training some striking with Dillon Danis while he prepares to return to MMA in a recent post to his official Instagram account:
