Craig Jones and Luke Rockhold have both reached the very top of their respective combat sports and now they’re taking an interest in a whole new format, traditional Turkish Oil Wrestling. It’s definitely not something that people would have predicted before the beginning of the year but since the announcement of the Craig Jones Invitational, Jones has been hard at work all around the world conducting seminars and filming content for his social media channels. Now it seems like that world tour has taken him to the home of Turkish Oil Wrestling, and he’s brought former UFC middleweight world champion Rockhold along with him.
Given that Rockhold was actually one of the first to enter the over 80kg division of the Craig Jones Invitational, it’s not surprising that he’s been spending time with the man behind the tournament. In fact, Jones revealed shortly after he was confirmed for the event that he would be conducting an intense training camp at B-Team Jiu-Jitsu in order to prepare for it. With a million dollars on the line, it makes sense that Rockhold would want to seek out the best training partners possible for his training camp and there aren’t many better places in the world than B-Team Jiu-Jitsu.
It seems as though Craig Jones and Luke Rockhold have met up before the intense training camp starts though, and this Turkish Oil Wrestling session looks like a great way to blow off some steam before the hard work starts. Although neither man is really giving it their all against one another, professional athletes still have competitive drive and it’s not like they wanted to lose either. That competitive drive will be out in full force in just a few months time though, when Rockhold steps on the mats as part of the elite lineup for the Craig Jones Invitational.
