UFC BJJ 6 took place on March 12th, 2026 and it was probably the slowest card that the promotion has put on so far. There were plenty of elite grapplers competing and two titles on the line, but only a single submission finish all night long. That finish came from Meyram Maquine, as he showed off some beautiful transitions during the second round before hitting a slick armbar entry to force Marco Mendes to tap. Although every other match of the card ended in a decision there was still a fair amount of action, and two matches in particular ended in some controversy.
Things started off fairly simply for the judges; with Manuel Ribamar, Joao Miyao, and Devhonte Johnson all winning straightforward unanimous scores. The first time that they disagreed on the outcome of a match was when Anna Rodrigues won a split decision over Jasmine Rocha. All three rounds were fairly close and probably could have gone either way, so there was always going to be people unhappy with the decision regardless of who got the nod. Maquine gave the judges a break with his submission win in the next match, and the final non-title match of the night was when the controversy began.
Nicky Rodriguez and Elder Cruz went the distance and Cruz was given both of the first two rounds, but Rodriguez rallied with a dominant final round that left the scores tied. The scoreboard was fair but the problem was that UFC BJJ had no contingency plan, and a high-profile match ended in an anti-climactic draw. Then in the first title-fight, Cassia Moura won a close match over Ffion Davies to become the inaugural bantamweight champion, but many were left disagreeing with the split decision verdict. Thankfully the final match was more clear-cut and some strong late efforts by Pedro Machado weren’t enough to stop Mason Fowler from winning the decision there.
