The ADCC San Jose Open 2025 took place on March 22nd, 2025 and there were quite a few talented grapplers stepping on the mats in the advanced divisions. Young New Wave Jiu-Jitsu prospect James Sarnecki won the absolute with 3 submissions but he couldn’t repeat that feat in his weight class, as he lost to the eventual champion James Kropschot. The women’s absolute champion was Victoria Fontin and she actually competed in two different weight classes outside of that. Fontin submitted 3 opponents to win gold at under 65kg and although she lost two matches to Joslyn Molina at under 70kg, she got revenge in the final of the absolute.
There were some notable names in the other weight classes too, particularly at over 100kg where Steffen Banta submitted both of his opponents. ATOS brown belt Teshya Alo was on fire in her run through the under 60kg division, as she won both her matches with huge margins on points . Her final match was against veteran 10th Planet black belt Bre Stikk too, so Alo’s 10-0 win was seriously impressive. There was another young contender who stood out in the women’s divisions too, as Shye Lilly submitted two out of three opponents along the way to a gold medal at under 55kg.
