The ADCC Dallas Open 2024 took place on June 15th, 2024 and there was several talented young competitors stepping on the mats alongside some of the best grapplers in the world. Jett Thompson was one of the biggest stars of the show, as he submitted all 5 opponents to win the absolute division despite competing at under 76kg. He came close to winning his own weight class too, beating his first 4 opponents before coming up against ADCC bronze medalist Dante Leon in the final. Leon submitted Thompson in order to win the division, demonstrating exactly why he’s right at the top of the rankings.

Thompson wasn’t the only Watkins Wrecking Crew competitor to stand on the podium, as Laylah Watkins won a silver medal behind ADCC Trials winner Alex Enriquez at under 60kg. One of the most impressive team performances of the day came from New Wave Jiu-Jitsu though, as several of their competitors won gold. Davis Asare was their most well-known grappler at the event and he won the under 83kg division, while Reese LaFever and Abraham La Montagne managed to do the same at under 70kg and under 100kg respectively.

There were plenty of other top competitors putting on impressive performances in other divisions too, particularly at under 91kg where Luccas Lira won a very busy bracket. Breylor Grout represented Legion Jiu-Jitsu well too, winning a gold medal in the heaviest weight class at over 100kg. There weren’t as many female competitors but still plenty of action to watch, with Gabi Schuck winning the under 70kg division and Jennifer Case winning gold medals in both over 70kg and in the absolute division. There was plenty of great action on the mats all day long but unfortunately there was controversy too, as police arrived when a fight broke out after one match.
