The ADCC Toronto Open 2024 took place on February 1st, 2025 and there were quite a few exciting grapplers travelling to Canada to compete. There were no double champions from either of the gender divisions, but Nicholas Craton did leave with a pair of medals. He finished the day with a 6-1 record and won the absolute division, but he had to settle for a bronze medal at under 91kg. New Wave Jiu-Jitsu competitor Placido Santos actually won that weight class and he did it in very impressive fashion, submitting all three of his opponents.
Santos wasn’t the only one to win every match by submission either, as Sid Tavolaro also submitted all three of his opponents at under 70kg and Delia Kolanowski achieved the same feat in the women’s absolute division. There was also an ADCC veteran competing in the event as well, and it’s no surprise that he ended up winning his division. That man was Brandon Reed and he stormed to victory in the heaviest weight class at over 100kg. Reed secured one submission and won the other the matches on points, beating both the bronze and silver medalist from the absolute along the way.
