Subversiv 4 marked a special occasion as the promotion hosted two events in one year, for the very first time. Their third event took place only two months prior and saw Gracie Barra walk away with the grand prize, but this time it was ATOS that would emerge triumphant after sixteen teams of three grapplers battled it out in a knockout tournament. Lucas “Hulk” Barbosa played the pivotal role in this victory by beating all four of his opponents on the night, while his teammates Rafaela Guedes and Andy Murasaki only stumbled once each on the way to the finals.
Nick Ronan also had a great night for Team New York as he defeated Andrew Kochel and Andy Murasaki on his way to third-place playoff, although he fell to the more experienced John Combs in the final match. His teammate Oliver Taza had a similarly solid performance, with his only loss coming to the man of the night, Barbosa. Team Level Black also provided a minor upset by making it all the way to the finals, with Elisabeth Clay submitting all three of her opponents on the way there. Her teammates from Brazilian Fight Factory, Kody Steele and William Tackett, couldn’t mirror her performance but both men put on great displays regardless.
