SOGI Pro: Fright Night took place on October 28th, 2023 and there were plenty of great results at the promotion’s Halloween themed event. Most of the attention was on the 8-man lightweight tournament and rightfully so, as the lineup featured a number of exciting competitors. It was Max Hanson who ended up emerging victorious though, as he submitted all three of his opponents in different ways and only needed EBI overtime to find the finish once. This shouldn’t be much of a surprise really, as Hanson has been working hard to establish himself as one of the best competitors in the US recently.
Hanson has won multiple tournaments over the last few months and beaten some of the best grapplers around, so he was the favorite going into the event anyway. Although Hanson continued his incredible run at SOGI Pro: Fright Night, Sid Tavolaro also impressed on the other side of the bracket. He got the fastest finish of the night in his semi-final match with Andy Jimenez when he locked up a heel hook in a little under 30 seconds, but he couldn’t stop Hanson from finishing the night with a perfect record. There were several superfights as well, and the final one of the event saw a notable finish as Tyler Pietsch submitted Julian Diaz with a brutal calf-slicer.
