Ryan Garcia is one of the most popular and well-known figures in the boxing world and he recently got into a bit of a verbal spat with Dillon Danis online. It’s not entirely surprising knowing Danis’ history and the past examples of his behavior with other combat sports professionals, but this time he was actually on the receiving end a lot of the trash talk. Garcia was going on Instagram live when Danis appeared in the comments and as soon as he noticed the name, he wasted no time in taking shots at him:
“Oh my gosh, there goes Dillon Danis. Hey bro I know that cheque is running out, relax. Yo it’s not a game all the time Dillon Danis. That sh*t is real life, you keep playing. Bro you literally got beat up by Logan Paul, you’re not sh*t bro. You’ve been f**king up for years and years and years you had a chance and then you went and looked stupid in the ring. Literally you’re not sh*t, you’re just an idiot.”
The incident with Logan Paul that Garcia is referencing is the boxing match that Danis had with him at the end of 2023. Paul was very clearly winning on every judge’s scorecards as the rounds progressed, but a brawl broke out right at the end of the match and Danis was disqualified as a result. Garcia has far more boxing experience than Danis and he even has a more impressive combat sports career in general as well. Danis started out in BJJ and the height of his career was an IBJJF No Gi Pan Championship gold medal, before he went 2-0 in MMA at Bellator and had his only boxing match against Paul.
Garcia on the other hand has a 24-1 professional boxing career with 20 knockouts at the highest level of the sport, including multiple titles. He’s one of the top-ranked lightweight boxers on the planet so while Ryan Garcia has absolutely no reason to take a match with Dillon Danis, apparently it’s not entirely out of the question either:
“What are you gonna do, Dillon Danis? First of all, I’ll have Nate Diaz beat the s**t out of you; first of all. And me and your own best friend is partners in a company. So, just shut up. Why, you’ll not really like that, bro. You’re a b*m… You wanna fight or not, Dillon Danis? Like, let’s just fight. I’m done talking.”
Even though Garcia would have the clear advantage in a boxing match, he’s not completely new to Jiu-Jitsu either. He was actually spotted training with Rener Gracie back in 2022 and although he has obviously focused on his main career, he may well have kept up some grappling training too. It’s still unlikely that Ryan Garcia and Dillon Danis ever meet in any kind of combat sport though really, and Garcia acknowledged as much himself:
Ryan Garcia also shared some messages that were reportedly between him and Dillon Danis as well, and the screenshots along with the footage of him talking about Danis were uploaded to the official Twitter account of Happy Punch:
