Despite being the son of the legendary Royce Gracie, Khonry Gracie has been unable to replicate his father’s success in MMA and has just been announced as one of eighteen professional MMA fighters who have now been released from the Bellator roster. In fairness, he’s still relatively young at just 24 years-old but hasn’t had the best of starts to his MMA career and currently sits with a 50% win-rate in his first four fights.
Khonry Gracie has competed for Bellator for his entire career and after his losing his first fight to fellow debutante Devon Brock, he won his next two in a row against Ron Becker and Oscar Vera. After a little over a year away from competition, he was set to return against Trevor Gudde at Bellator 245 and ended up suffering a knockout loss in the third round of an unimpressive showing.
The full list of fighters released by Bellator was confirmed by BloodyElbow and perhaps the most shocking of all is the inclusion of Daniel Straus and Liam McGeary, both of whom are former champions of the promotion. McGeary hasn’t competed in over two years though and Straus has actually been arrested as the result of an alleged stabbing incident, so both releases do make sense. The list also includes some big-value names like UFC veteran Bec Rawlings and boxing world champion Heather Hardy, both of whom split wins and losses during their time in the Bellator cage.
