Rhalan Gracie is part of the single most famous family in BJJ history and there will always be fairly high expectations on his shoulders, with Bellator 277 being no exception. The son of Relson Gracie was coming into the fight with a less than impressive record in professional MMA, having lost every single one of his previous fights. He fought just twice on the regional circuit back in the mid-2000s and lost both before leaving the sport entirely for over a decade. He then made his promotional debut at Bellator 266 and was facing a relative newcomer to the sport in Shane Keefe but ended up losing a unanimous decision to take his professional record to 0-3.

At Bellator 277, it’s likely that his future with the promotion was on the line for Rhalan Gracie and unfortunately, things did not go his way. His fight against Tyson Miller was called off after just one round as the cageside doctor put a stop to the fight and would not let Gracie continue. This took his promotional record to 0-2 and his overall professional MMA record to 0-4, so it’s likely that Bellator choose to part ways with him in a similar fashion to his relative, Khonry Gracie. Elsewhere there was plenty of excitement at Bellator 277 as two title-fights headlined the card and Patricio Freire put on a phenomenal display to take the title from the previously undefeated Featherweight world champion and elite MMA grappler, A.J McKee.
