Polaris have just dropped a teaser for a huge crossover event with Who’s Number One that will see each promotion compete under the Polaris Squads ruleset in 2026. It would undoubtedly be one of the biggest events in recent history when it comes to BJJ, as each promotion can pick from among the very best competitors in the world. It’s also an event that probably would not have been possible if not for the fact that Polaris have recently made the decision to move to FloGrappling. Now that both promotions are hosted on the same streaming platform, cross-promotional efforts like this are an option.
It’s not clear yet who will be representing either team but the conclusion of the Polaris Squads Intercontinental Championship 2025 has given them a pretty obvious choice. That year-long tournament saw teams from all around the world battle it out to be crowned their inaugural champions and the European team emerged victorious. That works out very well for Polaris themselves too, as they are a European promotion and the entire team had already competed for them in the past. There really wouldn’t be a better storyline than turning that European team into a Polaris team, and taking them to the US to face another all-star Squad.
When it comes to WNO, they have a much wider range of viable options to choose from. Virtually every top American grappler has competed on their mats at some point in the past and many of them even have experience under the Polaris Squads ruleset, like Mica Galvao. The most sensible route for them would be to put together a team of as many of their champions as possible, and Galvao in particular fits that bill perfectly. Then they could also bring in fellow double champion Diego ‘Pato’ Oliveira and light-heavyweight champion Pedro Marinho, along with a number of other elite veterans.
The potential Polaris vs WNO Squads event in 2026 would be available to watch exclusively on FloGrappling, click here to subscribe and watch.
