Polaris 31: North America vs Europe took place on February 8th, 2025 and there was some great matches all throughout the results. The preliminary card alone was stacked with entertaining battles between talented grapplers, with several of them making a case for bigger opponents in the future. After that it was time for the main attraction of the evening, the first semi-final of the Polaris Squads Intercontinental Championship 2025. Some of the best grapplers in the world had travelled to England to represent Europe and North America, and the winning squad would secure a place in the grand finale later this year against the winner of South America and Asia and Oceania.

Europe took an early lead thanks to Jozef Chen winning back to back decisions against Chris Wojcik and Michael Perez right at the start, but the two teams traded wins for a while after that. The first submission of the night came from European team captain Eoghan O’Flanagan, but he was submitted in the very next match by PJ Barch. Europe was holding on to that narrow lead until Mateusz Szczecinski stepped on the mat, submitting Barch and Kieran Kichuk in order to widen the gap quite a lot. With some more alternating of decision wins, Europe managed to finish the first half with a solid 10-7 lead on the scorecards.

The second half started off disastrously for North America, as Santeri Lilius rattled off a submission and a decision win as soon as it started. Their biggest competitor was able to put a stop to Lilius’ run though, as Devhonte Johnson submitted him with a rear-naked choke. The teams traded wins again, until Szczecinski returned and finished the second half with two wins in a row to secure the victory for Europe by a comfortable 18-12 margin. In between those two halves at Polaris 31, Helena Crevar earned the results she needed on the judge’s scorecards to win a decision and successfully defend her lightweight title against Anabel Lopez.
