Polaris 29 took place on September 7th, 2024 and the promotion delivered another night of high-level grappling with some fantastic results. Even the preliminary card matches provided plenty of excitement, with a few names in particular standing out. Gavin Stewart put his opponent to sleep literally as the bell rang for the end of the match in one of the most thrilling finishes ever. Shortly after that Taylor Hishaw reminded the world why she’s one of the top prospects in the sport with a dominant performance and submission win, and veteran competitor Luiz Finnochio submitted his opponent after two minutes of beautiful Jiu-Jitsu.
The main card was equally exciting and it featured plenty of big names from some of the top academies in the world. Jed Hue and Julian Espinosa put on one of the most exciting matches of the entire event and even though Hue won, both of them did incredibly well. Art of Jiu-Jitsu took a big team to the event, with both Tainan Dalpra and Cole Abate winning their respective matches in impressive fashion. Then the co-main event produced a huge upset, as Mohammed Avtarhanov beat Jacob Rodriguez by split decision. All of that built up to the final match of the night, where AOJ were back in action as Diego ‘Pato’ Oliveira faced Ashley Williams in the gi and won a unanimous decision to maintain the team’s perfect record.
