UFC veteran Nate Diaz has just been charged with misdemeanour battery after an altercation with a bouncer in Las Vegas, Nevada. The incident took place outside Omnia Nightclub at Caesar’s Palace last August, and it was actually caught on camera as well. This is far from the first time that Diaz has had a run-in with law enforcement and there have been multiple issues over the last few years. He’s been known for getting into altercations outside of the cage recently, so this battery charge probably isn’t going to come as a surprise to those who’ve followed his combat sports career.
The younger Diaz brother was involved in a backstage brawl at one of Jake Paul’s fights in 2022, although that did end up leading to a positive outcome for him. That’s because he was eventually booked to make his boxing debut against Paul and although he lost a decision against him, he will have made a good amount of money in the process. One of the most high-profile incidents came last year though, when footage emerged of him choking out a man in the street. Although he did hand himself over to police after the event, nothing actually came of it in the end as Diaz was seen to be acting in self-defense and the charges were dropped.
This isn’t even the first incident this year, as a brawl broke out during the press conference for his boxing match against Jorge Masvidal. Nothing came of that event either though, and it’s not entirely uncommon to see this during pre-fight press conferences for combat sports events. Diaz even won the eventual boxing match, although that’s the last time he was seen in action. There’s no news yet on when or where he will be competing next, or even under what ruleset. As it stands, he’ll likely have to get these legal issues sorted before he starts pursuing more sanctioned fights.
