The Miyao brothers gave the world a nice reminder that they’re still two of the most talented grapplers on the planet as they took both first and second place in their division at the IBJJF Pan-Ams 2021. The pair of siblings have always been regarded as one of the most impressive families in Jiu-Jitsu and even as they now sit further into their 30s they’re still able to prove that day in and day out. As a result of their advancing age, both Joao and Paulo Miyao have now started competing in the Masters division instead of Adult and for the first time in quite some time, they also entered the same weightclass.
As a result of the brothers competing alongside one another, the Light-Featherweight bracket of the IBJJF Pan-Ams 2021 looked like one of the toughest Masters divisions for anyone not named Miyao. Both Joao and Paulo had to overcome two opponents to make it to the final, but they made short work of all of them before closing out the final match together. Joao managed to defeat Arnold Monterroso and Kaio Fonseca, while Paulo came out as the winner against Antonio Casarez and Robson Feitoza.
