Former UFC middleweight world champion Michael Bisping recently revealed that he thinks both Nick Diaz and Nate Diaz should eventually be inducted into the the promotion’s Hall of Fame. While a place in the Hall of Fame for any sport is a highly-coveted position, it’s perhaps even more rare in MMA thanks to the fact that the sport is so young. While there are some fighters who’s induction into the UFC Hall of Fame is completely without question, there are others who will undoubtedly draw some criticism or debate.
Although the Diaz brothers are incredible fighters who have been at the top of their respective divisions, neither of them has ever won a UFC title. Becoming a champion isn’t a prerequisite for being inducted into the Hall of Fame though, and there are several fighters included who have never worn a UFC belt. Michael Bisping has a unique perspective as a UFC Hall of Fame member himself and he was clear about where he stands on whether or not Nick and Nate Diaz should be included alongside him:
“My god, of course, without a shadow of a doubt, without question. I say both of them. I think Nick Diaz over Nate Diaz certainly deserves to be in there. Nate Diaz, of course, is a global sensation, the win over (Conor) McGregor and the loss to McGregor, they were some of the biggest pay-per-views, and people love the guy. They love to watch him fight.”
It’s not all about the money of course, and Bisping went on to explain some of his reasoning behind the decision:
“They deserve to be in the UFC Hall of Fame. When 20, 30, 40, 50 years pass, a hundred years from now, okay? They deserve to be remembered. They stand out as two of the most aggressive, game, always ready, always came prepared, always in shape, dangerous in all areas, great striking, amazing submissions, and just a massive following. How could we forget about those people? I mean, if I get one of those, Nick and Nate Diaz certainly deserve one of them. So if I’m making the choice, they’re in the Hall of Fame. Simple as that.”
Michael Bisping revealed that he thinks both Nick and Nate Diaz should be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in a recent video that was uploaded to his official YouTube channel:
