The ADCC Monterrey Open 2025 took place on June 21st, 2025 and the promotion has continued their expansion into Mexico with another great tournament. There was an ADCC veteran in the mix too, as top contender Javier Zaruski made the trip to compete and maintain his excellent ADCC Open record. He had a pair of flawless performances across both the over 100kg and absolute divisions, submitting all 5 of his opponents. BJJ brown belt Juan Pablo Usma Usaga had a great day too though, getting 3 submission wins to take home gold at under 83kg and going 2-1 in the absolute to get a silver medal next to Zaruski.
There were impressive runs elsewhere too, with Mario Carrasco getting a clean-sweep of 3 submissions in 3 matches at under 65kg. 19 year-old blue belt Osmar Rumanof had two very tough matches against a pair of black belts and managed to win both of them at under 76kg. There weren’t many women competing at the ADCC Monterrey Open 2025 unfortunately and the divisions were thin at the highest level, but Sofia Contreras stood out for her performances in two brackets. She entered both the intermediate under 60kg division and the advanced under 55kg division, beating two opponents in each one and taking home a pair of gold medals.
