Polaris have just announced an exciting matchup to crown a new middleweight champion, as the vacant title will be on the line when Levi Jones-Leary and Davis Asare meet at Polaris 35 on January 31st, 2026. The main attraction at the event will actually be the cross-promotional Polaris Squads match they are having with Who’s Number One. As is customary for Squads events though, the promotion needs a half-time superfight to break up the action and they usually like to have a title on the line. Whoever wins this match will be the third man to hold the Polaris middleweight title after elite competitors Craig Jones and Roberto Jimenez.
Both Jones-Leary and Asare have past experience on the Polaris mats and they’ve both had great performances for the promotion. Asare is undefeated on Polaris so far and he’s had a very busy career over the last few years, as he’s been travelling all around the world to compete for major events like ADXC and EBI. He had a very impressive run at ADCC Trials just last year that reconfirmed that he belongs at the highest level of the sport and this is a huge opportunity for him to test himself against one of the best for a major title.
Jones-Leary might not have the same perfect record at Polaris but he’s had many more matches and been a key player for them recently. He made it all the way to the final of the welterweight grand prix at Polaris 27, and interestingly he almost faced Asare in the opening round before Asare had to withdraw at the last minute. He returned at the very next event to challenge Mateusz Szczecinski for the welterweight title, only narrowly losing a decision. Now Jones-Leary is moving up in weight and although that would normally be a big challenge, he has one of the best guards in the world.
