Kron Gracie will be returning to MMA once again, this time facing Bryce Mitchell at UFC 310 on December 7th, 2024. It’s an excellent matchup between two submission specialists and it’s a fight that most grappling fans will be looking forward to now. The only risk is the same with any other battle between talented grapplers, that if neither man is willing to go to the ground with his opponent then it ends up being a striking match instead. That’s definitely a possibility in this fight just like it is any other similar stylistic matchup, but both Gracie and Mitchell will likely feel confident of their chances on the ground.
Kron is obviously the most accomplished grappler out of the two, thanks to his ADCC title and multiple IBJJF World Championship titles on his run through the colored belt ranks. He was at one point one of the top prospects in Jiu-Jitsu and it looked like he might have a long and prosperous career in the sport. He turned to MMA in 2014 instead though and after four submission wins, he was signed to the UFC. He has since gone 1-2 and taken quite a lot of time away from competing between those fights, although he has still maintained his record of finishing every win by submission.
Mitchell is also coming off a loss in his last fight and a break from competition since then, as he also hasn’t fought in 2024 so far. He’s had a much more successful MMA career too, currently holding a 16-2 professional record that includes 9 submission wins. He’s also ranked at number 13 in the UFC lightweight division, so Kron will be very eager to beat Mitchell and see his name in the rankings. Mitchell on the other hand will be looking to rebound from the knockout loss in his last fight and continue his rise to the top of the division after this fight.
The UFC announced that the fight between Kron Gracie and Bryce Mitchell was booked for UFC 310 during the live broadcast of UFC 309, and Kron lated confirmed it in a post to his official Instagram account:
