One of the top BJJ competitors on the planet, Kaynan Duarte, has just signed a new major sponsorship deal with Tatami. It’s a big move for both Duarte and Tatami, as both of them will undoubtedly benefit from their new relationship. Tatami are already one of the biggest names in the BJJ world and in fact, they won ‘Brand of the Year’ at The JitsMagazine 2022 BJJ Awards. They make gi and no gi equipment along with other general apparel, and have been steadily growing in popularity for quite some time now.
Much like Tatami, Kaynan Duarte is also one of the biggest names in BJJ. Duarte has reached the top of both gi and no gi grappling, winning ADCC and IBJJF World Championship gold medals on multiple occasions. He’s beaten many of the best grapplers on the planet over the course of his career, including Nicholas Meregali, Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida, and Craig Jones. What makes all of his achievements even more impressive is the fact that Duarte is still just 25 years old and has plenty of time left in his combat sports career to go even further.
Duarte is actually the reigning ADCC world champion in the under 99kg division after beating all four of his opponents last year. That was the last time that he competed in 2022 but he continued that form immediately in 2023 when he won both the super-heavyweight and absolute division at the IBJJF European Championship. He enjoyed mixed results throughout the rest of the year, although he did add a few more medals to his before winning the Polaris 25 Absolute Grand Prix in very convincing fashion. There’s no news on where Duarte will be competing next, but now we know he’ll be sponsored by Tatami when he steps on the mats.
Kaynan Duarte announced the news that he had signed a major sponsorship deal with Tatami in a recent post to his official Instagram account:
