Place of Peace Invitational 4 is scheduled for December 2nd, 2023 and the promotion has managed to book some fantastic grapplers for superfights at the event. Both Joao Miyao and Gianni Grippo are scheduled to compete at the event, and they will be taking on Joshua Murdock and CJ Murdock respectively. The promotion is still relatively new but they’ve managed to put on some fantastic events already, attracting a number of elite grapplers to compete on their mats. In fact, this isn’t even the first time that Joao Miyao has featured at one of their events and he put on a fantastic display of technical proficiency last time.
Joao Miyao has actually been winding down his competitive career recently and focusing more on Masters divisions rather than taking on adult grapplers. Considering he’s had hundreds of matches at the highest level of the sport over the last decade, it makes sense that he might choose to compete against people in his own age bracket. He’s still a uniquely talented grappler and can easily give the very best in his weight class a difficult matchup, so his battle against Joshua Murdock will undoubtedly provide some fireworks for the fans.
Gianni Grippo isn’t much younger than Miyao and he’s actually been in even more matches over the years, but he still continues to compete at the highest level of the sport. He actually won the IBJJF No Gi Pan Championship in the featherweight division earlier this year, and also already made his Place of Peace debut just before that. The last time that Grippo was seen on the mats was a little under a month ago at the ADCC North American East Coast Trials 2023. Although he was taken out by the eventual winner at 66kg, he remains one of the top competitors in his division and CJ Murdock will no doubt be eager to take on one of the best around at Place of Peace Invitational 4.
