JitsCast #13 features top 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu black belt Keith Krikorian. Not only is Krikorian one of the most successful competitors to ever come out of the affiliation, but he’s reached the very highest level of the sport. Krikorian made his name off the back of multiple impressive runs at ADCC Trials and he’s reached the final four of that tournament several times. That success did not go unnoticed either, as Krikorian has been invited to compete at the ADCC world championship three times and has become a frequent fixture on pretty much every major professional grappling promotion in the world.
We spoke to Krikorian about his phenomenal success at ADCC Trials and how he discovered the sport initially. He also spoke about how he has been able to win under so many different rulesets over the years and why he regularly chooses to compete against bigger opponents. We talked about why Krikorian pursues a competitive career in the sport and how he’s able to keep his passion for it alive, along with his plans for the future of his career. He also reflected on his match against Diego ‘Pato’ Oliviera at in the opening round of ADCC 2022, specifically because of the next challenge that lies in front of him.
Krikorian’s next match is a chance for revenge, as he will be facing Oliveira in a rematch at Who’s Number One 26. That will serve as the main event of the evening, because Oliveira is putting the promotion’s lightweight title on the line. Krikorian reflected on the reason why he’s interested in testing himself against Oliveira and how he approaches all of his matches. From there, we went on to discuss some of the more philosophical aspects of being a combat sports competitor. Krikorian shared his thoughts on the idea of leaving a legacy behind and revealed what he owes to the sport.
