Personal trainer and famous UK personality James Smith has just been promoted to BJJ brown belt after several years spent on the mats. Smith is known for his ability to deliver high-quality insights into the world of cardio conditioning, strength-training, and nutrition; along with his tendency to combine that with his hilarious personality. It’s a method that has earned him some incredible success and a huge following on social media, with millions of people paying attention to what he has to say. He’s even been able to branch out into more traditional media by becoming a best-selling author multiple times over as well.

Smith started BJJ quite a long time ago now and has trained at a number of gyms around the world, eventually earning his blue belt back in 2018. He then received his purple belt back in 2021 and has now progressed to the final colored belt rank before black. He’s also experienced the highs and lows of competing as well, something that very few celebrities actually choose to do. Smith isn’t completely alone though of course, as famous actors like Tom Hardy have taken the leap to test themselves on the mats as well.

BJJ is becoming increasingly popular among celebrities everywhere around the world and as the years go on, there will only be more and more of them getting involved in the sport. It’s a great thing for the development of the sport as well, as it helps to bring Jiu Jitsu to a wider audience that may not have otherwise heard of it. It’s always nice to hear professional personal trainers like Smith advocating for the benefits that BJJ can have for the body as well.

James Smith announced that he had been promoted to brown belt in BJJ by Ryan Walsh at Garage Jiu Jitsu Wollongong in a recent post to his official Instagram account:
