Jacob Rodriguez is still only a teenager and has just been promoted to a BJJ blue belt, but don’t let that fool you. Nicky Rodriguez’s younger brother is every bit as talented and athletically gifted as he is, and has already been putting in the hours of hard work needed to make the absolute most of what he’s got. His promotion has come after only seven months of training Jiu-Jitsu, although admittedly he is training every single day and often more than once as well.
He already had a fantastic foundation on which to build his Jiu-Jitsu career too as, just like his older brother Nicky, he has years of wrestling experience under his belt already. In fact, Rodriguez has already entered an advanced division at a Grappling Industries competition back when he only had 6 weeks of training in Jiu-Jitsu and still managed to come out of it with a fantastic 2-2 record for the day. Since then, he’s moved on even further and started to compete in Expert divisions instead, managing to go 2-1 at another tournament just recently.
The news of Jacob Rodriguez being promoted to blue belt in BJJ was shared in a post on the official Instagram account of his coach and instructor at Studio 84, Jay Regalbuto. He mentions in it that Rodriguez’s goal is similar to his older brother’s in that he wants to make it to the ADCC World Championships and while that may seem like a lofty goal, if he’s competing with and beating veteran black belts after less than a year of training, anything is possible from this point onward.
