Jits Magazine will be on hand to provide the live results, play-by-play, analysis, and highlights of IBJJF: The Crown 2024, which will be streamed live on FloGrappling on Sunday, 19th November, 2024. This will be the second edition of the tournament after it made it’s debut last year and this time the IBJJF has put together a huge roster of 48 elite competitors. There are 4 men’s divisions and 2 women’s divisions, each one consisting of 8 of the best grapplers in the world at that weight class. The eventual winners will have to battle through one of the toughest brackets of their careers, and we’ll be here to break down all the action.

Opening Round
Diego ‘Pato’ Oliveira vs Osvaldo ‘Quiexinho’ Moizinho
Oliveira pulls guard immediately and Moizinho is pressuring in to pass, but Pato hits a nice off-balance and comes up on top to score the first two points of the match. Moizinho has a lapel grip and he’s using it to slow Oliveira down very well, eventually working his way back to standing after a few minutes of gripfighting. Oliveira pulls guard immediately again, hitting another sweep shortly after and scoring again, while Moizinho works his way to 50/50 against his standing opponent. Moizinho uses it to sweep and but Oliveira exposes his back and works hard to take it as the final minute approaches. He falls off and Moizinho takes top position, but he’s down on points without much time left. Moizinho leaps onto a kneebar but he can’t finish it before the match ends.

Shane Hill-Taylor vs Marco Mendes
Both men pull guard immediately and Mendes starts working on an ankle-lock, but the referee stands them both up with penalties. Hill-Taylor shoots in and switches to a guard pull when Mendes defends, with the pair getting reset in the centre after. There’s a lull in the action and both men are given penalties again. Hill-Taylor sets up the de la riva guard he’s looking for but Mendes stands tall to combat it. Hill-Taylor starts using a lasso to shut down Mendes’ passing attempts but he can’t get much offense of his own going either. Hill-Taylor transitions to de la riva after a reset and almost uses it to sweep, but Mendes recovers and finds himself inside Hill-Taylor’s closed guard. Both men are given penalties again shortly after and reset on the feet, where Hill-Taylor pulls guard again. They pick up the pace in the dying seconds
Jamil Hill-Taylor defeats Marco Mendes via Decision – Judge’s Decision
Mendes shoots in and pulls guard immediately, working his way to de la riva when Maciel stays standing. Moizinho sets up a pair of sleeve grips and his shallow lasso control is making it very hard to pass. Mendes hits a sweep to score the first two points but Maciel immediately sets up single-leg X to threaten a sweep himself. Mendes bounces back up when he’s taken off-balance and he almost passes off it, but Maciel reguards immediately. Maciel transitions to sit-up guard with a sleeve control and he comes up on a single-leg from there, finishing the sweep and immediately working for a double-under pass. Maciel can’t get it but he starts working some fast passing transitions that put Mendes under pressure. He’s using great lateral movement but Mendes is doing a great job of retaining guard at all angles. Mendes hits another quick sweep and scores again, with Maciel getting to single-leg X again. Maciel starts working for the ankle-lock but they go out of bounds, with Maciel scoring as a result. They both work frantically after the reset but there’s no time left for either man to score.

Ademir Barreto vs Eduardo Granzotto
Granzotto pulls guard quickly but Barreto is like lightning, quickly diving for a back-take and searching for hooks. Barreto ends up on top and is getting close to passing with some more quick movement, attacking Granzotto on both sides. Granzotto gets to deep half-guard and starts setting up a waiter sweep, transitioning to attack the back when Barreto defends. Barreto turns back into Granzotto and starts pressure-passing, but Granzotto recovers brilliantly. Barreto drops for a kneebar briefly but he can’t get it, so he gets back to passing again. Granzotto almost hits a sweep but Barreto controls a leg to stop him from standing, giving him enough time to recover top position. Granzotto pulls a leg up on to his shoulder and starts to come up for a sweep again, but Barreto counters with a kneebar and cranks for the finish.

Diego ‘Pato’ Oliveira vs Jamil Hill-Taylor
Oliveira pulls guard first and Hill-Taylor engages, but Oliveira uses his own gi to control the leg and come up for a sweep after the first minute. Oliveira stays very heavy on top of Hill-Taylor‘s butterfly hooks but Hill-Taylor is still able to works his way back to closed guard regardless. Hill-Taylor sets up a modified rubber guard using Oliveira’s gi but it only slows him down, as he steps into half-guard and passes straight into mount after that. Hill-Taylor recovers guard and eventually gets to closed guard too, but Oliveira forces his way through to half-guard and eventually passes to side control. Hill-Taylor recovers and turtles when pressured, giving Oliveira the chance to take his back and finish out the match there.

Joao Mendes vs Ademir Barreto
Mendes pulls guard early and Barreto drops his knee in to pass, but he gets hit with a very quick sweep. Barreto recovers and sets up a deep lasso, putting Mendes down on to one hip with it. They get stuck in that position and the referee penalises both of them, which encourages them to pick up the pace. Mendes comes back up on top to deny the sweep and he starts driving through the guard with a knee-cut pass. The lasso causes him some problems though and although he does manage to get rid of it eventually, that gives Barreto the ability to create enough space to force him to disengage. Mendes picks up the pace but Barreto is able to works his legs into X-guard as a result, using it to unsettle Mendes’ base. Barreto can’t get it to work and he transitions to single-leg X, but there isn’t enough time left for him to sweep.

Hill-Taylor pulls guard and Barreto dives straight in to pass, but finds himself dragged into a triangle choke when he does. He postures up to a fully standing position and Hill-Taylor follows him up, but he’s eventually shaken off. That allows Barreto to pick up the pace as he looks to expose Hill-Taylor‘s back, but Hill-Taylor works his way back to face him. He tries to use a Caio Terra ankle-lock on Barreto and it looks tight, but Barreto locks up a toehold to counter and forces him to tap.

Diego ‘Pato’ Oliveira vs Joao Mendes
Oliveira pulls guard and Mendes starts passing very quickly, with Oliveira taking a lapel grip to slow him down. Oliveira threads the lapel around his de la riva hook, before transitioning to double sleeve-grips when Mendes stands up. Mendes picks up the pace in his passing again so Oliveira collects the same lapel grip to slow him down, before inverting underneath him to threaten the back-take. Mendes shuts it down well, but he can’t free himself from the lapel grip that Oliveira is using. He stands and tries to pull his leg out but Oliveira catches his heel and recovers the grip, before almost landing a sweep that Mendes has to work hard to prevent. Another sweep attempt from Oliveira and this one is finished, but he gives up an ankle-lock to Mendes in the process. Mendes tries to use the ankle-lock to sweep but Oliveira takes his back in the scramble and sinks both hooks in to score. Oliveira takes a grip of the collar and starts pulling for the finish, forcing Mendes to tap.

Opening Round
Tainan Dalpra vs Gabriel Galvao
Dalpra beats Galvao to pll guard first and it isn’t long before he berimbolos for the back soon after, coming up on top to score for the sweep. Dalpra stands to pass and he’s working his famous long-step but Galvao eventually uses some space to stand back up. Dalpra pulls guard again and hits another quick sweep, but this time Galvao takes control  of Dalpra’s leg in the process. He starts threatening Dalpra with an ankle-lock and forces him to sit to defend, using the opportunity to sweep him. Dalpra attempts a toehold and Galvao rolls to deal with it, going out of bounds in the process. Galvao pulls guard this time and Dalpra starts working his passing, with Galvao wrestling up to combat it. Dalpra takes the front-headlock and goes for a peruvian necktie, but Galvao escapes and is back on the bottom again. Dalpra repeatedly threatens to take Galvao’s back every time he turns away or tries to stands, using the threat to keep him playing guard. They get reset in the centre after a scramble and Dalra pulls guard, with the match coming to an end not long after.

Luna’s pull guard but Dorsey puts him under pressure immediately, and the pair go out of bounds. They take their time after the reset but Luna eventually pulls guard again, getting to closed guard this time. Dorsey drives his knee through the centre and uses it to break open the guard and stand, driving Luna out of bounds when he tries to stand up with him. Luna pulls guard again and gets a shallow lasso but Dorsey deals with it well and staples Luna’s leg to the mat. Dorsey is the one pushing the pace as they go out of bounds again, and he tries for a quick takedown without any luck after the reset too. Luna pulls guard and sets up that shallow lasso again, but Dorsey deals with the grip by stapling it again. Dorsey keeps up his passing attempts but he can’t get far enough to score before the match ends.

Murasaki pulls guard and works his way to de la riva, alternating between underhook and pant grips. He transitions to single-leg X and tries for the sweep, but Canuto drops to a knee to maintain his balance. Murasaki comes up on the single-leg and kicks the leg to finish it, but Canuto breaks free and stays standing. They battle for grips on the feet and Murasaki pulls guard, coming up on the single-leg again and running the pipe to finish the takedown. Murasaki is working hard to pass and he almost gets there but Canuto is able to stand to prevent it, before dropping back to guard. Murasaki works for an underhook and he uses it to pass to knee-on-belly, settling in to side control with one of Canuto’s arms pinned. He starts looking for an armbar on the far side but the match ends shortly after.

Mauricio Oliveira vs Manuel Ribamar
They start out slow on the feet working for grips with their hips far back, and the referee awards penalties for inaction after a while. Oliveira gets close on the first takedown of the match but Ribamar pops back up quickly, getting back to gripfighting. Ribamar pulls guard after a little more time on the feet without action, but it isn’t long before he’s trying to stand back up again. Oliveira is using good pressure from the top to force him to keep playing guard and he suddenly starts picking up the pace with his pass attempts. Ribamar turtles and Oliveira almost takes his back, but Ribamar is able to escape and scramble to top position. They get reset after some inaction and Ribamar pulls guard again, taking a pant-grip to deal with Oliveira’s knee-cut pass. Ribamar tries get to single-leg X but Oliveira removes his leg easily and pulls guard when Ribamar stands up with him. He spends the last few seconds dealing with Ribamars passing attempts to wind down the clock.

Tainan Dalpra vs Elijah Dorsey
Dalpra pulls guard and uses a pant-grip and elevation to bring Dorsey’s other leg close to him, immediately locking up an ankle-lock. He cranks on it but can’t finish the submission, so he gets back to playing guard instead. Dalpra berimbolos and exposes the back, coming up for the sweep when Dorsey drops his back to the mat to defend it. He gets close with a pass and switches to the back-take when Dorsey turtles, eventually setting up a triangle choke from the back. Dalpra keeps the control and steadily works to take the armbar instead, forcing the finish with that.

Andy Murasaki vs Mauricio Oliveira
Murasaki and Oliveira trade takedown attempts and but neither one can get close, so Murasaki pulls guard instead. Murasaki is trying to use his de la riva hook to set up a sweep but Oliveira keeps stripping it and staying heavy to shut it down. Murasaki transitions to X-guard and wrestles up very quickly, forcing Oliveira down and exposing his back in the process. Murasaki jumps on Oliveira’s back but Oliveira is able to stay standing and force him to slide off. Murasaki pulls guard again and uses a deep de la riva hook to force Oliveira to the ground, taking two pant-grips and coming up for the sweep. Murasaki drops his hips low when he feels threatened by a sweep, before standing up to step into headquarters. Murasaki hits a quick pass ot side control with less than a minute left, and steps into mount after it. Murasaki uses double underhooks to set up an armbar, forcing a quick tap from Oliveira.

Adam Wardzinski vs Matheus Spirandeli
Spirandeli pulls guard and uses X-guard to elevate Wardzinski for a sweep, but Wardzinski is able to recover to standing after it’s scored. Spirandeli pulls guard again and this time he wrestles up, working hard to drive Wardzinski up to standing before Wardzinski pulls guard in return. Wardzinski hits a dummy sweep and follows it up to take top position, while Spirandeli works his way to a shallow lasso to keep him at bay. Wardzinski staples the opposite leg and starts trying to pull Spirandeli over into a leg-drag position, but Spirandeli is able to create enough space to recover. Wardzinski deals with the threat of a leg-attack and comes up on top with a deep underhook, using it to keep Spirandeli flattened while he works his way into mount to score the final points of the match.

Horlando Monteiro vs Paulo Merlin
Monteiro pulls guard and Merlin dives on a straight ankle-lock that puts him under a bit of pressure, but he deals with the threat and stands up to secure sweep points. Merlin stays on the ankle-lock though and he forces Monteiro to sit down again, switching his legs to butterfly ashi garami and cranking hard on the ankle. They go out of bounds and get reset on the feet, with Merlin shooting in to pull guard and diving on the ankle-lock once again. Monteiro alternates between stripping the hooks standing and dropping down to relieve pressure, eventually going out of bounds and conceding points to Merlin. Monteiro pulls guard first and Merlin drops down, but Monteiro comes up for an easy two points. Merlin berimbolos and gets sight of the back, but opts to take up top position and score with the sweep instead. Monteiro shoots his hips up for a triangle choke and starts pulling on the arm, but Merlin stays safe inside the choke. The time runs out before he can finish it.

Gustavo Batista vs Joao Nicolite
Batista pulls guard and hits a sweep almost immediately, stripping off Nicolite’s single-leg X with relative ease. Nicolite transitions to butterfly and Batista is sitting heavy on his hooks to shut him down, putting Nicolite in danger of conceding the pass shortly after.  Nicolite turns to turtle and Batista almost takes the back from there, but ends up forcing him to his back with a head-and-arm control instead. Nicolite ends up in bottom half-guard and Batista drops straight into mount, pinning one of his wrists to the mat after. Nicolite gets back to half-guard but Batista hits a quick pass to side control, popping up  to knee-on-belly briefly to score there too. Batista steps over into mount and although Nicolite recovers to half-guard again, it’s only a matter of time before Batista scores another pass. Batista starts threatening the back-take and works his hooks in steadily, transitioning to the mount when Nicolite defends and dropping back for an armbar to finish the match.

They tie up and Zuchi pulls guard after a brief pause, moving to de la riva when Gaudio stands up. Zuchi is able to elevate Gaudio and come up on top for the sweep, but Gaudio pulls him into 50/50 when he does so. Gaudio uses the position to sweep but Zuchi returns fire with a sweep of his own shortly after. Gaudio takes closed guard and the pace slows after that, with both men given successive penalties for inaction. Gaudio starts using Zuchi’s lapel to control his arm but he can’t get much going, so he opens up his guard. Zuchi starts working to pass and Gaudio drags him back into closed guard when he can. They get reset after more penalties and Gaudio pulls guard, with the action slowing down once again. The referee stands them up and after a moment of deliberation, both men are disqualified.

Wardzinski pulls guard and immediately comes up on top as Monteiro sits down a split-second later, before standing up with a pant-grip. Monteiro balances well and Wardzinski drops to guard, conceding two points in the process. He hits another sweep though and starts working his knee through the centre of Monteiro’s guard. Wardzinski stands to deal with the shallow lasso and he’s able to keep up enough pressure with his passing attempts to prevent Monteiro from standing. Another attempt to stand works for Monteiro and he shoots in for a quick takedown, getting hold of a single-leg that Wardzinski eventually shuts down. Wardinski pulls guard and hits a quick sweep, but Monteiro stands up with him after points are scored. Another guard-pull from Wardzinski leads to another sweep and he takes up a strong passing position this time. Monteiro turtles when he gets close and Wardzinski immediately takes the back, locking up a choke for the finish.

Adam Wardzinski vs Gustavo Batista
Wardzinski sits to guard and starts looking for inside position, steadily dragging Batista further into his offensive cycles. Batista stands up to deal with the threat of a sweep and Wardzinski stays patient on the bottom, working his hooks back in for butterfly guard whenever Batista engages. Batista very briefly threatens Wardzinski with a guillotine and tries to use it to drive him flat to the mat, but Wardzinski is wise to the threat. Wardzinski manages to get deep on a shoulder-crunch for a moment but Batista keeps his weight back and he abandons the control. Batista keeps up the heavy pressure on top and starts working his way deeper on the pass, forcing Wardzinski into half-guard. That allows Wardzinski to come up for the sweep though, and he tries to take Batista’s back in the scramble. He can’t finish the transition and he ends up on bottom closed guard, looking for the shoulder-crunch once again. Batista stands to break open the guard and tries to get through to a leg-drag but Wardzinski works back to half-guard and gets an underhook in the process too. He can’t finish the sweep but Batista can’t pass either, and the match ends in that position.

Munis pulls guard early and uses his grip on the pants to set up his sweep, but Szucs counters with an ankle-lock immediately. Munis stands up and Szucs follows suit, keeping the grip around his ankle and using it to finish a takedown. Munis sets up another open guard sweep but Szucs again takes a hold of an ankle, this time using it to return to standing straight away. Munis pulls guard again and Szucs drops in for a double-under pass, but Munis creates enough space to get back to open guard. He almost sweeps Szucs with a quick trip and uses it to set up the grips he wants, eventually getting close with a matrix back-take. Szucs defends but Munis transitions to an ankle-lock and cranks it to get the finish.

Lydvo pulls guard and Machado lifts him up immediately, popping his leg off and dropping down into half-guard. Machado takes an underhook and drops his hips far away from Lydvo, which gives Lydvo the chance to wrestle up to top position. Machado takes a shallow lasso and uses it to score with a sweep of his own, working to pass half-guard. He uses a frame on Lydvo’s neck to prevent him from sweeping him, taking Lydvo’s back when he turns away. Machado can’t keep the position though and Lydvo comes up on top. Machado uses an omoplata to sweep and quickly transitions to the armbar when he finishes the movemet, pulling the arm back for the finish.

Gutemberg Pereira vs Felipe Costa
Pereira hits a lovely footsweep early but Costa recovers and deals with the followup attack as well. Pereira is looking great gripfighting and hits an uchimata, but Costa scrambles to his feet on the edge of the mats. Pereira works for a single-leg but Costa defends and decides to jump to guard after the threat is over. Pereira stands and breaks open the guard, with Costa looking to set up de la riva instead. Pereira drops into half-guard and takes a deep underhook, looking to drive through with a knee-cut pass. Costa wrestles up and gets back to the feet, where Pereira looks very comfortable again. Costa pulls guard again and tries to bounce back up with a single-leg but Pereira defends and returns to neutral. Costa tries to work a few takedown attempts but Pereira shuts them all down, so he pulls guard again. They get stood up with penalties after a while and this time Pereira pulls guard, but they go off the mats and get reset. Costa pulls guard and Pereira gets straight into half-guard with a crossface, which is where the match ends.

Marcus Ribeiro vs Roosevelt Sousa
Ribeiro pulls guard and Sousa dives in a bit too eagerly, walking straight into a triangle choke attempt. Sousa postures up out of it and they return to the feet, with Ribeiro dragging him to the mat early. Sousa pops back up and Ribeiro picks up a single-leg after a little gripfighting, but he can’t finish it. Sousa turns in to creative takedown attempt but Ribeiro bounces back up. Ribeiro drags Sousa to the mat with a collar-grip again and shoots his other hand through for a loop choke, turning to finish it quickly.

Erich Munis vs Pedro Machado
Munis pulls guard and works his way to a de la riva x guard, dumping Machado to the side to sweep him. Machado wrestles up quickly though and Munis comes up to meet him, before pulling guard again. Munis sets up his spider guard and hits another clean sweep to take top position, while Machado pulls his ankle into his armpit when he hits the ground. Munis tries to step over into mount but it gives Machado the chance to come up for the sweep. They reset after a scramble and Munis scores with a sweep soon after, but Machado returns fire almost immediately with one of his own. Munis hits a lovely overhead sweep with sleeve-grips but Machado pulls him into single-leg X again, standing up when Munis tries to free his leg for another sweep. Munis uses the double sleeve-grips to sweep Machado again, pressuring in with a knee-cut pass this time. They scramble off the mats and Munis pulls guard soon after the reset, with Machado dropping back on ankle-lock and conceding a sweep again. Munis is able to pass for the first time in the match and he settles into side control, but Machado is able to work his way  free and stand up. The match winds down with Machado trying to pass through Munis’ tricky open guard.

Gutemberg Pereira vs Marcus Ribeiro
Ribeiro drives in for a single-leg but he can’t finish it as they go off the mats, and Pereira gets back to working his Judo. They trade minor takedown attempts for a while and get penalties for their troubles, before Pereira surprises Ribeiro by pulling closed guard. Ribeiro puts on a wild pace with his passing attempts though and he finds his way through to half-guard, collecting a crossface along the way. Pereira is able to make enough space to get back to open guard and although he gets close with a sweep, Ribeiro disengages when he comes up to stand. Ribeiro off-balances Pereira a little and tries to jump over the top into an armbar, but Pereira shakes him off and threatens a back-take briefly. Ribeiro recovers and comes up on top to secure his points for the sweep sequence. Ribeiro tries to pass and forces Pereira to turtle to deny the points, wrestling up and pulling guard once they’re both standing. Pereira gets an underhook and starts to come up on it, before rolling under the other way to sweep Ribeiro. Ribeiro tries an armbar counter but he can’t get it, coming up quickly and diving on Pereira’s back unsuccessfully. They reset on the feet and Pereira pulls guard again, transitioning to K-guard and feeding Ribeiro’s lapel through to set up a triangle choke. Pereira switches to an omoplata but he can’t finish it before the match ends.

Erich Munis vs Marcus Ribeiro
Munis pulls guard and he takes a sleeve-grip early, setting up his lasso control. He elevates Ribeiro to transition to X-guard and takes advantage of the off-balance by coming up for the sweep. Ribeiro comes up quickly for a sweep of his own, while Munis takes single-leg X with a sleeve-grip. Ribeiro tries to step back to force a leg-drag but Munis keeps hold of his leg and makes sure he continues facing him. He lets Ribeiro turn away and uses that movement to come up behind him and score with a sweep, but they go out of bounds and get reset. Munis pulls guard again and Ribeiro tries to dive over him but he can’t secure the position and he finds himself in Munis’ lasso control again. Munis works his way under his opponent’s hips and elevates him again, sitting him down on the mat. Ribeiro attempts an ankle-lock but he abandons it early and pulls Munis into 50/50 instead. Munis stands up for a moment to score before dropping back down and inverting to try to get to the crab-ride. Ribeiro defends that but can’t stop the sweep that comes after it, and he gives up a rear-bodylock when he turtles away from him. Munis gets his hooks in and starts working on an ezekiel choke, using it to get the finish.

Janaina Lebre vs Victoria Assis
Lebre and Assis are both cagey at first and although they both try to pull guard when contact is made, Assis pops back up to take top position. Assis tries to stand and break grips but Lebre hits a clean spider-guard sweep that almost scores, but Assis scrambles back to top position. Lebre works her legs up to a high guard and tries for an armbar but Assis rips her arm free. Assis stands and Lebre underhooks the leg, rolling backwards to sweep her and settle into side control while facing the legs. Lebre walks around to the other side and pins one of Assis’ arms, but Assis is able to scramble to her knees. Lebre takes the back and gets a grip of the collar in the process, finishing the choke just seconds later.

Cassia Moura vs Thaynara Victoria
Moura and Victoria both sit to guard and after neither woman is able to advance, they get stood up with penalties. They both sit to guard again and Moura tries to berimbolo but Victoria rolls with her to stay in the same position. Another stand up with penalties and this time only Victoria pulls guard, with Moura quickly diving on the back. She can’t secure the position and they get reset, with another quick guard-pull from Victoria. Moura is trying to pass to the side but Victoria does a great job of pummelling with her legs to prevent it. Victoria sets up her lasso and manages to use it to slow Moura down a lot, but they’re reset on the feet with penalties after some inaction. Moura uses a nice collar-drag to set up a single-leg and follows it through to take Victoria down, diving on to her back when she hits the ground. Victoria defends the back-take and Moura takes up top position in half-guard, trying to dig for an underhook. Victoria switches to butterfly half-guard and elevates Moura to create sace, but she can’t do much anything more before the match ends.

Brianna Ste-Marie vs Jaine Fragoso
Fragoso sits to guard as soon as they make contact, and she starts working fast to set up her grips. Ste-Marie is pressuring in to pass and she forces her way through to half-guard, sitting on one hip and taking an underhook on the far side. She’s climbing higher up Fragoso’s body and steadily improving position, eventually freeing the knee of her trapped leg. Ste-Marie uses her free leg to staple Fragoso’s leg and pass through to mount for a big-scoring sequence. Fragoso takes a while but she does get her kipping escape to work, working her way back to half-guard. Ste-Marie still has the strong underhook and she uses it to keep up the pressure for another pass to mount just before the end of the match.

Gabrielle McComb vs Vitoria Vieira
Vieira pulls guard not long after contact is made and McComb starts working to pass immediately. She puts Vieira under pressure and dives for a back-take shortly after, but McComb ends up on bottom when Vieira escapes. McComb attempts a scissor sweep and uses it to stand up, but Vieira has a strong grip on the pants that she uses to keep her off balance. McComb hits a takedown and although Vieira stands back up, she doesn’t wait long enough to pull guard and concedes two points. McComb almost manages to pass but Vieira turtles to deny points, with McComb working to take the back as a result. She threatens a choke but can’t finish it and Vieira is able to pull herself back to top closed guard. Vieira stands and starts breaking grips to pass, really picking up the pace in the final minutes as she’s down on points. McComb locks up closed guard again and works for a choke, but the match winds down from there.

Janaina Lebre vs Cassia Moura
Both women pull guard and after a brief reset due to inaction, Lebre pulls guard again. Moura is working hard to pass but Lebre’s spider-guard grips are making things very difficult for her. Lebre hits a lovely sweep to come up on top and immediately deals with Moura’s grips to make her way to half-guard. Moura recovers and gets a hold of Lebre’s leg, standing up to finish the sweep and draw level. Lebre wrestles up and Moura hits a slick collar-drag, diving on her back when she sees the chance. Lebre recovers though and steps into half-guard, eventually passing to mount with a strong crossface and underhook. Lebre stays heavy and doesn’t rush from there, with the match finishing in that position.

Brianna Ste-Marie vs Gabrielle McComb
McComb pulls guard and Ste-Marie is pressuring in well, but McComb puts her excellent guard-retention to work for several minutes. McComb feeds Ste-Marie‘s lapel through her own legs and uses it to stand up with a single-leg, but Ste-Marie sprawls very hard to shut down the takedown attempt. Ste-Marie jumps guard with a guillotine but McComb pops her head out immediately and finds herself in closed guard. Ste-Marie maintains closed guard and uses her overhook to set up a punch choke, driving her first into McComb’s neck for the finish.

Cassia Moura vs Gabrielle McComb
McComb pulls guard and Moura almost passes early, but she chooses to attack an arm instead and ends up on the bottom when McComb escapes. Moura is working hard from the bottom but she can’t get anything to work, while McComb starts to set up a double-under pass. Moura wrestles up but McComb shuts it down, and McComb pulls guard shortly after. Moura is pressuring in and gets close to passing, but McComb comes up on top with an underhook and immediately hits a knee-cut pass to finish the sequence in side control. Moura is able to wrestle up after a moment and they both stand up, but McComb is able to finish the scramble on top anyway. McComb dives into an over-under pass but Moura is able to create space and hit a quick sweep. McComb takes hold of a lapel but Moura dives forward for an underhook, before trying to jump over McComb’s guard and falling off onto her back. McComb comes up on top in the scramble but it isn’t long before Moura sweeps her again. Moura starts working frantically to pass but she can’t finish anything before the clock runs out on the match.

Jainana Lebre vs Brianna Ste-Marie
Both women pull guard and Lebre stands back up immediately, but Ste-Marie immediately controls a leg when Lebre engages. Ste-Marie inverts for a kneebar before transitioning to an ankle-lock, but Lebre sits and frees her leg. Ste-Marie tries to pull the foot back in but Lebre comes up on top and starts to pass. Lebre gets close with her first attempt but Ste-Marie is able to threaten a sweep to bring her back into half-guard, trying to torque the knee she has trapped in order to come up. Lebre stays heavy on top and tries to work her way to a knee-cut pass, but Ste-Marie is eventually able to get back to closed guard. Lebre is able to force it open and Ste-Marie transitions to de la riva, but Lebre sits back for an ankle-lock when she does. Lebre goes belly-down but she still can’t finish it, and both women end up trying to finish ankle-locks against one another. Ste-Marie comes up on top and can’t quite free her leg in time before the match ends, but she scores an advantage regardless.

Gabrieli Pessanha vs Mayara Custodio
Pessanha pulls guard and she starts transitioning to K-guard with a sleeve-grip, but Custodio is wise to it and able to shut it down. Pessanha powers straight through Custodio with a solid sweep that lands her in mount for six points in total. Custodio turns to her side and Pessanha forces her flat on her stomach, getting the collar-grip and finishing the choke almost immediately.

Tamiris Silva vs Giovanna Jara
Silva and Jara are both working hard to fight for grips on the feet, but Silva gets what she needs to pull guard. She starts setting up an ezekiel choke from the bottom but Jara defends it by pressuring her way into half-guard, where Silva stands up to prevent the pass. Jara pulls guard this time and gets a shallow lasso on one side, while Silva starts breaking grips frantically. Silva settles in to half-guard but Jara still has the shallow lasso and she uses it to get back to closed guard. Silva tries to stand a few times but Jara does a great job of using attacks to encourage her to drop back down. Her guard finally opens and Jara inverts quickly to attack the legs, looking to pull Silva’s leg in for a kneebar. Silva starts coming around to Jara’s back and pinning her in a defensive turtle as the match comes to an end.

Nathiely De Jesus vs Maria Vicentini
De Jesus and Vicentini both pull guard, so De Jesus gets up to take top position. Vicentini tries to get to de la riva but De Jesus is stepping over the hook very well. Vicentini elevates De Jesus instead and hits a clean sweep to score the first points of the match. De Jesus gets to single-leg X and sits Vicentini down to score a sweep of her own, but Vicentini returns fire quickly after. De Jesus attempts multiple sweeps but can’t quite finish them, until Vicentini is finally forced to accept one and she can even the score. Vicentini is looking to invert under De Jesus but De Jesus stays heavy and takes a seatbelt grip when Vicentini turns into her. De Jesus gets a collar-grip and steps over to take the back, finishing the choke in the process.

Melissa Stricker vs Isabely Lemos
Stricker pulls guard and Lemos drops to her knees and slides back slowly to break it open. Lemos tries to drive her knee through the centre to pass but Stricker switches from reverse de la riva to shin-to-shin, hitting a beautiful sweep to come up on top. She starts working on a knee-cut and threatens a baseball bat choke, but she can’t quite finish the  pass. She picks up the pace a little and ends up standing with Lemos working to elevate her, but she settles in to headquarters. Lemos deals with the passing attempts very well and eventually gets to spider-guard with a lasso, quickly attacking the omoplata. She uses it to sweep and starts to put on a higher pace in her passing attempts, but there isn’t enough time left for her to score.

Gabrieli Pessanha vs Tamiris Silva
Pessanha pulls guard and Silva tries to stand to break it open, but she brings her back down each time. When Silva does manage break the guard standing, Pessanha transitions to single-leg X immediately. Pessanha goes belly-down and starts working on an ankle-lock but she can’t get it, so she switches to outside ashi garami. She stands up and as Silva looks to get up with her, Pessanha rushes towards her back. She can’t get it and Silva takes up top position, with Pessanha working her way back to closed guard. Pessanha hits a clean hip-bump sweep to mount, with Silva giving up her back during one escape attempt. Pessanha keeps her flattened out face-down, locking up a rear-naked choke over the feet and squeezing hard for the finish.

Nathiely De Jesus vs Melissa Stricker
Stricker pulls guard immediately and after about a minute she’s able to hit a beautiful sweep to score two points. De Jesus has a brief omoplata threat but she can’t finish it and Stricker maintains top position. De Jesus works with double sleeve-grips and she keeps threatening with the shallow lasso on other side, but Stricker strips the grips each time. That’s when De Jesus feeds Stricker’s lapel under her leg and uses it to attempt an armbar, before inverting to threaten the sweep. De Jesus attacks an omoplata again before transitioning to a triangle choke, and she uses the defensive reaction to sweep Stricker afterward. Stricker gets an underhook and comes up to finish the sweep, taking top position and scoring two points. De Jesus leaps into a triangle choke as they engage again but Stricker retreats to standing just before the time runs out.

Tamiris Silva vs Nathiely De Jesus
De Jesus pulls guard and Silva immediately starts passing at a high pace, but gives up sleeve-grips as a result. De Jesus pulls her into closed guard and switches to the shallow lasso when Silva stands, before working her way back to closed guard again. Silva stands again and De Jesus comes up with her this time, before using her sleeve-grips to set up an omoplata. Silva pulls De Jesus’ leg over her head to defend the submission, eventually pulling herself completely free. Silva keeps working to pass and De Jesus works her leg into a deep lasso grip, but Silva is able to rip her arm free. De Jesus takes up closed guard and as Silva explodes into a pass attempt, she pulls her leg through into 50/50. De Jesus tries to find her way to the back but Silva defends well and pulls her leg free to resume passing. There isn’t enough time left though and De Jesus pulls her into closed guard as the match ends.

Gabrieli Pessanha vs Melissa Stricker
Pessanha pulls closed guard and Stricker is working hard to break it open, but Pessanha is continually keeping her off-balance and preventing her from going anywhere. She opens her guard when under pressure and takes a pant-grip and sleeve-grip to start her sweep, but she can’t finish it. Pessanha retuns to closed guard and feeds Stricker’s lapel underneath her leg, elevating her to sweep her and come up on top. Stricker tries to crank on a toehold but Pessanha ends up moving to her back, quickly sinking in both hooks. She gets a rear-naked choke over the jaw and cranks it hard, getting the submission win.
