The IBJJF No Gi Brazilian National Championship 2024 took place from June 28th to 30th, 2024 and there was a ton of elite competitors featured in the results. There was only one double champion at the event and that honor went to Patrick Gaudio, who won both the super-heavyweight and the absolute division in impressive fashion. The absolute champion in the women’s divisions was Mikaela Barros, but she ended up settling for a silver medal at super-heavyweight behind the rising star Roberta Ribeiro. Roosterweight champion Thais Loureiro also had a notable performance in the absolute division, as she left with a bronze medal despite being the smallest woman in it.
Christopher Tran was the men’s roosterweight champion, and he wasn’t the only non-Brazilian who won a division. Julian Espinosa won the featherweight division with a series of great performances, and top Turkish competitor Yigit Hanay won gold at lightweight. Leonardo Martins was the other lighter champion, as he won the light-featherweight division. On the opposite end of the scale, Antonio de Padua stood on top of the podium at ultra-heavyweight and Gabriel Brod emerged as the heavyweight champion. The final men’s champions rounding out the lineup were Rafael Paganini and Alexandre De Jesus, who won at medium-heavyweight and middleweight respectively.
The heavier women’s divisions featured new champions, as Giovanna Carneiro won the medium-heavyweight title and Cleidiane Ferreira won it at heavyweight. The middleweight division also featured a changing of the guard and a new champion, as Jamile Lima won the gold medal there. Vitoria Vieira beat several tough opponents in order to take home gold in a stacked lightweight bracket, while Evellyn Azevedo achieved the same feat at light-featherweight. The featherweight division ended without any surprises, as the reigning champion Jessica Dantas retained her title once again.
